"The build quality of the SD990IS is truly a thing of beauty! beautifully. I really prefer it to the rest of the current Canon lineup. I got a great price from Amazon, and decided to take the plunge! Believe me, it is a pleasure to do this SD990IS review!

The camera just has a very solid and firm feel in your hand.I really haven't made use of it as much as I'd like so far, but the shots that I have taken have been in all different settings. So far, so good, they have been excellent!

I really enjoy using the manual mode, which is kind of unusual for a point and shoot camera. The feature gives you the option of taking control, or the camera doing it for you.

Some of my frieds warned me about the noise a 14.7 megapixel sensor this large would make, but because of the awesome DIGIC 4 processor, I always have control. I never use any setting beyond ISO 600.

I have always believed the old adage, "you get what you pay for", and then things will last for a long time. The Canon SD990IS is one of those long lasting items. I hear my friends complain all the time about having to replace their chep plastic digicams. I know my SD990IS will withstand the test of time!

"I upgraded from a Panasonic LZ10, which is a super little point and shoot! Now, I'll try and write a brief SD990IS review....

I am really enjoying the SD990IS. I am not capable of taking professional quality shots. Colors are deep and rich, even when I print them out. I have fun using all the preset options, although sometimes I like to shoot manually. The digital zoom makes less noise than I thought it would.

I generally don't like digital zoom, However with the Canon SD990IS, I get some pretty incredible outdoor shots. They are Very detailed, allowing you too see elements of scenes that you didn't even know were their! O.k., so it makes a little noise, so what!


The SD990IS is obviously very well made. The controls are placed very intelligently, simple to get to. Camera edit mode allows you to get rid of red eye, crop color swap etc. These are features that are helpful if you are using direct print.

The face detection seems to be spot on in every situation I use it in. The self timer rocks, too!
Macro images are crystal clear, and gorgeous to look at!"

"Man, I am digging the SD990IS! I purchased it to upgrade from my Panasonic FS15. I really was awe struck by having 14.7MP! REALLY incredible!

The shots I have taken are mind boggling. amazingly clear with great detail. I am having a blast with it.

The canon SD990IS does take pretty good video, just regular 640x480, but they sort of lack the clarity and crispness tha tmy friends get with the SD900. Overall, I am thrilled with cool little point and shoot! Thanks Canon,for the SD990IS!"
